Does the company want you primarily to sell products/services, recruit people, or both?

  • Most companies want you to recruit people to distribute who in turn will recruit people to distribute who in turn will recruit people to distribute. But if the company is only recruiting people and no one is selling the product/service, you may want to look carefully at the company. (How To Spot An Illegal Pyramid Scam)

  • Will the distributors use enough product to keep the company afloat?

  • Further, you may just want to market a product and not manage a whole sales force of downline distributors. If so, find a company that will let you do that.

  • Your commission should be enough to let you make money retailing the product or service without having any downline. This means that the commission paid on retailing should be about the same as the commission paid on recruiting new distributors.

  • Nevertheless, it’s useful to remember that most of those who earn top money in network marketing are the people who are able to recruit, train, and support people who are able to get others to recruit, train and support people, etc.

Does the company stand behind the promises it makes about its products?

  • Call the company and ask these questions: Does the company validate their products’ claims, e.g., does a health food product have clinical trials done by independent laboratories?

  • What is the company’s refund policy if the customer is not satisfied?

  • How quickly do they refund the money?

  • What is the company’s buy-back policy on inventory purchased by distributors? Most companies promise to buy back inventory not more than a year old. But sometimes this policy is illusory because of the complex administrative hoops the distributor must jump through and because there is no limit on when the refundable money must be paid back to the distributor.

  • Finally, buy the product and try it. Do you like it?

How stable is the company?

  • Two ways to judge a company’s stability are: first, get a credit report from Dunn and Bradstreet.

  • Second, find out how long the company has been using network marketing.

  • Most companies never survive two years.

  • Therefore, at least two years in the business is a good yardstick in judging a company’s stability.

How many books, tapes, and seminars have you gained knowledge from? How many of those have you actually gone out and applied the principles you learned? Most people have attempted a few items, but the biggest challenge is many of the trainers out there are teaching things that are hard for people to apply. What do you focus your energy on? What should you just totally ignore? What if you ignore the good stuff and focus on the wrong stuff? That could be a total disaster.

The following is Bob and Anna’s short story…….is it your story too?

Ontario – We started our network marketing career in 1999. Over the next seven years, we made just about every mistake possible!

We worked five long years in a “sponsor monster” money swap company with a pay plan so poor that we ended up with a remortgaged house, maxed out credit cards and a bad case of the “What’s Wrong With Me’s?”.

We spent thousands of dollars buying useless leads and even bought ourselves twice!

We travelled thousands of miles and even walked on fire! Our feet got warmer but our check stayed the same.

We stumbled into an illegal pyramid which cost us thousands more. We tried a Ponzi scheme before we knew what the word meant. Ten thousand more went to a mentoring program scam which taught us how to earn $21 split three ways!

The flags were all there, but they weren’t red enough.

In 2006, we read Success in Ten Steps and started to pay serious attention to the Mentoring For Free system.

Our business turned around 180 degrees immediately.

We’ve learned

  1. How to spot personalities and build an instant relationship with them

  2. How to evaluate MLM compensation plans and contracts written by company lawyers

  3. Most of all – the 5 criteria you must evaluate to decide whether a company has good profit potential or not

It’s a sad fact that well over 95% of networkers are failing, but as Michael says, “It’s not your fault!”

Thursday July 22 I was on a call from the group ANMP” Association of Network Marketing Professionals” also formally known as the DRA “Distributors Rights Association”. Tom “big al ” Schreiter was the guest speaker. Here’s the introduction I recieved in my email about the call,

“Big Al’s” Three-Step System + 25 skills

Instead of wandering from one hot secret method after another, playing the leads game, and wondering why all of your study and work isn’t paying off — learn how to move forward with “Big Al’s” simplified approach to building yourself and your downline. Stop the frustration and start moving forward with each step you take.

Tom “Big Al” Schreiter is one of the true legends of the M.L.M. profession. He’s one of the most prolific authors of training materials, including several of the most popular books on the topic of sales, sponsoring, and organization building, such as “Super Prospecting” and “How To Create A Recruiting Explosion”. Tom is also the founder of FortuneNow, one of the greatest online educational and training resources.

Now with that said, Tom is a personal friend and mentor. Here’s the highlights from the call;

Tom talked about three simple steps to build your business,

1) Learn how to talk to people commercially. This is different from your social chat, you talk about the weather and the kids and your job…whatever but after an hour your no closer to having your prospect join you than when you started..right? Have you ever noticed that you see a 15 second commercial on tv and the next day or week you are buying the product? wonder why? Did the people that made the commercial have a personal relationship with you? Do they know your dream board? Have they ever even seen you or talked to you? NO! So how is it they get you to buy their product?…commercial talk!!! You need to learn how to do it!!!

2) Find people to talk to!! Thats simple you talk to people everyday, thats not a problem, WHAT your saying is the key!!

3) Only take the volunteers!! IF YOU CLOSE SOMEONE YOU HAVE TO CLOSE THEM EVERY MONTH…TOO MUCH WORK!!

Lets talk briefly about #1 because 2 and 3 are easy, #1 is where your trouble is, I know been there done that!!! So how do you talk commercially? Become good at your one minute presentation, use ice breakers and story telling will help you greatly. Want some examples? I thought so!! Ok here’s a few head lines you could use;

Who do you know that hates their job?

I know how you can lose weight by eating cookies!

How would you like to wake up every day feeling like your 16 only with better judgment!!

If someone asks you what you do tell them;

I show people how to take 2-6 month vacations a year!!

I help people fire their boss!!

I help people lose weight by eating cookies!!

TALK COMMERCIALLY!!!!!

A one minute presentation;

I figured if I could replace my income in 16-18 months so my children wouldn’t have to be raised in child care, stop driving for 2 hours a day and own my life by spending one hour every few days would I do it?

Your prospects don’t need to know or want to know everything about your business, their not all leaders, some just want to use your products and get them wholesale, some just want to be part of a group, some just want to go to convention. You need to be able to pick out who are the leaders and then train them all about your business…..

Would you like to learn more? One of the last questions Tom was asked was how to generate more leads…Tom said you DONT NEED MORE PEOPLE TO RUIN YOU NEED TO LEARN HOW TO TALK TO THE LEADS YOU HAVE. Even in the setting this call was hosted in people still think they need 1000′s of leads. If you have 4-5 personally sponsored leads you can build a very very large business….IF….you have a duplicatable system. LISTEN TO ME YOU DONT NEED 1000′S OF LEADS!!!! Let me help you learn how to talk to them and then help them build a big business and you will have the success you desire!!!

If you have a business you should have a product. How do you sell your product to the consumer? Do you fire hose the world? Yesterday, as usual, I had about 20 friend requests on face book. Great more people to talk to!!! Most network marketers will just hit you with their biz opp. Happen to you? Yeah I thought so….one guy sent me a message that was 6 paragraphs long unbelievable!!!!

So the question is how do you introduce people to your business? Simple use a 2 minute story and a one minute presentation.

Here’s an example of a 2 minute story

“I decided that instead of driving for an hour a day and working to make my boss rich and raising my children in day care, plus fighting the traffic and the weather it would be easier to spend a year learning how to earn my income form home. If you could work one hour a day for a year to own your life would you?”

Great that’s simple enough but now how do you show them your business? You can explain it in 3 simple steps.

1) Don’t change. By this I mean you have been promoting things your whole life, your favorite car, soda, movie, food, your favorite kind of cat or dog…you have been networking your whole life so people dont need to change just change what they are promoting!!

2) Describe your product. Are you promoting…long distance? Tell them all they have to do is sign this paper and they will save x.xx dollars a month and have the clearest calls ever, nutritional products? How would you like to wake up every day and feel like your 16 again…but with better judgment. See how simple? Keep it short they dont need to or want to know everything about your biz, then you will know within a few minutes whether they are a good prospect for your biz.

3) Tell them what they have to do to earn the money. Do you know 7 families that like to wake up every day feeling great? Do you know 8 people that know 8 people that use a cell phone? See how simple it is to do a one minute presentation? DON’T FIRE HOSE PEOPLE make a relationship with them find out what their needs are and whether you can help them, go with the KISS principle KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID…….LOL and you will have a blast building your business and helping others reach their dreams!! Not understanding that you need

a TEAM to build an empire!

The “Heavy Hitters” give you self-talk to use when you look in the mirror: “If It Is To
Be, It’s Up To Me.”
But no skyscraper or successful network marketing organization has ever been built by
one person. It takes teamwork, people from every walk of life & experience level coming
together, working together. It takes hundreds, often thousands of people working for one
common goal, to build the skyscraper or the network marketing organization.
Consider:
• No steel mill worker = no steel = no building.
• No glassmaker = no windows = no building.
• No makers of carpet, tile, marble, lumber, air-conditioning, drywall, concrete, paint,
shingles, plumbing fixtures, electrical wiring, tar paper, drywall compound, elevators,
mortar, bricks, paint brush, doors, crown molding, wallpaper, nails, screws, lights,
cabinets, etc. = no skyscraper.
A critical for your success is a LOT of people working together. Lone wolves do not
make it in network marketing. So you should join a team, learn to function as part of that
team, and then they will help you build your own team.
THAT is how to get successful in network marketing.
Conclusion
If you’re reading these words, then that means you’ve read all the Mistakes. Anyway, I
sure hope that’s what it means … for YOUR sake.
I know a lot of people who’ve achieved fame & fortune in MLM. But I also run into
MLMers all the time who’ve been used & abused. The information in this ebook will

In this industry if your product is not remarkable, you are invisible.
You need a product people will buy even with no compensation plan.
I get calls from people who tell me they’re searching for a product that truly inspires
them.
And that is exactly the wrong way to go about this.
What I tell them is to search to find a mob of people raving about a product …
THEN
Fall in Love With THAT Product!
Be a passionate advocate for it. Find a product with a HUGE market and fall in
love with it.
Some people love to work for companies with a product that fits their self-image
… but they can’t make a dime on it.
Do yourself a favor. Focus on the people. Focus on the market. Choose a product
that everyone else wants.
And then, as you build your people, let them know the wisdom of doing the
same thing.
