Heres some food for thought from Tom “Big Al” Schreiter…enjoy and then think about it……

Texas and Oklahoma are bitter college football rivals. There’s no middle ground.

One day a Texas football fan was driving through Oklahoma on his way to another state. (Texas football fans never drive to Oklahoma, they only drive through Oklahoma to get somewhere else.) The Texas football fan stops at an Oklahoma gas station to refuel.

A little girl walks by and suddenly is attacked by a vicious pit bull. The dog tears her dress and grabs her arm. The Texas football fan sees the screaming little girl and runs to her rescue. He grabs the pit bull and struggles valiantly. The dog tears into his flesh. Blood streams from his arm and leg. Finally, in a desperate move, the Texas football fan gets the upper hand and kills the pit bull.

A reporter for the Oklahoma Times Newspaper watches the drama unfold. After the pit bull is dead he approaches the Texas football fan and says:

“Wow! What a hero! This will make great headlines in tomorrow’s paper. Let me take your picture and ask a few questions.”

The Texas football fan wipes the blood off his arm and leg and has his picture taken.

“We’ll put a great headline and story under your picture in tomorrow’s paper,” says the reporter. “Maybe, the headline could read, ‘Hero Saves Little Girl.’ By the way, where are you from?”

“From Texas,” says the hero.

The reporter thought for a moment and replied, “Well, since you’re from Texas I guess we could change the headline to read: ‘Man Rescues Child.’ I can kind of overlook that you’re from Texas, but tell me, you at least root for the Oklahoma football team, don’t you?”

The Texan replied, “No. To tell you the truth, I am a avid Texas football fan.”

The reporter left to write up the story. The Texan decided to stay around for a day so he could read his headline and story in the next morning’s paper.

The next morning, the Texas football fan picks up the Oklahoma Times Newspaper and on the front page was the headline:

“Man Kills Family Pet!”

Ouch.

The Oklahoma reporter certainly had his opinion of the man from Texas.

Now, think about our prospect.

Our prospect sees us as salesmen.

What are our prospect’s opinions and thoughts when we start to talk to him?

He thinks:

“Oh no, a salesman. Hide my wallet. Hide my car. He is going to talk me into something I don’t want. What’s the catch? I know it will be too good to be true. Be careful!”

And from that point on, our prospect stops believing anything we say … and we’re dead.

So our first order of business in any presentation is to establish instant trust and rapport. And then we can start telling our prospects about our wonderful products and opportunity.

The Law of Attraction doesn’t work for most people because despite what they consciously strive for, despite what thoughts they keep in the forefront of their conscious mind, despite all their proactivity, practice, persistence and perseverance, they have an unconscious program of self-sabotage that is running the game and keeping all of life’s goodies that they desire at arm’s length. The solution to this problem is to eliminate the self-sabotaging behaviors by eliminating what’s causing them: unconscious guilt, shame, and self-loathing. How do we do this? By loving and forgiving ourselves. How do we do this? By loving and forgiving others. How do we do this? By consciously focusing on acceptance, tolerance, generosity, graciousness, gratitude, compassion, forgiveness, estimable acts of kindness and service to others. As we engage in these behaviors as best we can, unconditionally and without exception, every day and in every way possible, we send the message to our subconscious mind that we are good enough, that we are worthy of reward not punishment, and our subconscious mind then puts an end to the inner critic that influences us to sabotage ourselves, and it directs the Law of Attraction to work for us rather than against us, and we begin to manifest the life we desire.

You can romance any offer and make it more effective.

Prospects respond more to the romantic packaging than to the product or service. For example, network marketing superstar Tom Paredes, author of MLM War Stories, used to be an Army recruiter. He could have described the Army opportunity as follows:

Recruiting presentation #1 to the potential army recruit.

“It’s like going back to primary school. You will get yelled at by mean instructors, you’ll have no freedom, and all you can think about is how to escape from boot camp. We’re talking institutional food here. Basic calories, no taste. Dress code? Heavy combat boots and dull, ill-fitting uniforms. If you live through your boot camp experience you can graduate to become a moving target for enemy sharpshooters. Oh yeah, did I mention the pay? You’ll receive the absolute minimum allowed by law.”

Not very enticing, is it? Of course, Tom Paredes repackaged his offer and added a little romance. This is how he presented the Army opportunity.

You have heard this at conventions. A leader preaches to the audience:

“You’ve got to give people a vision!”

Everyone nods. Yes, a vision.

Tom Paredes, says:

“If people have a vision, nothing gets in their way.”

Of course the opposite of that is:

“If people don’t have a vision, everything gets in their way.”

Everybody agrees that we have to give
people vision. But … Nobody tells us how to do it.

Most times amateur distributors try to give their new distributors and
prospects a vision by appealing to their conscious minds.

They ask the person to dream … to set some goals.

But what happens in real life?

They refuse to set goals. Their subconscious mind tells them:

* Oh, you will just be disappointed.
* That will never happen to you.
* That’s too high.
* You are just setting yourself up for failure.

And then nothing happens.

As professionals, we want to command their subconscious mind to stop blocking their vision, and to command their subsconscious mind to give them an instant vision.

A good example of how this is achieved is with the “Word Picture” skill.

As leaders, our job is to give our distributors and prospects vision. So
let’s use our subconscious mind skills to do this efficiently.
