An enthusiastic networker named Al called us recently to discuss one of our articles and pump us for his new deal, a company selling information, CD’s, ebooks, training, etc.  He admitted that his product cost little or nothing to produce, so the company could pay out huge commissions.  We let him know we weren’t interested, but offered to help him calculate his 10k answer.

“How many active people do I need in my business to generate a walkaway residual income of $10000 a month?”

Al:  Oh, that’s easy!  With the Wonderful 100, you can earn $100000 a year.
Us:  Okay, that’s $8333 a month, right?
Al:  Right!  We’ve got information to help people with their finances and their health and …
Us:  Slow down a bit, Al.  Let’s just stick to the math, okay?
Al:  Okay.
Us:  So what is the Wonderful 100 that generates $8333 a month?
Al:  You have 100 people in two legs with helpful information and ebooks about dieting and saving and …
Us:  Hold on, Al.  We don’t need to know about the products.  Let’s just do the math, okay?
Al:  Okay.
Us:  So that’s 200 people generating $8333 per month, right?
Al:  Right.
Us:  If you divide 200 into $8333, that’s $42 to you per person on your team, right?
Al:  That sounds about right.
Us:  How much is each person spending per month?
Al:  Well if they get the full information package, that’s one price, but if they choose separate parts, they …
Us:  Al?
Al:  Yes?
Us:  How much?
Al:  Oh.  $50 per month.
Us:  So let’s see if we have this right.  You’re in a binary where many people get paid on the same volume, right?
Al:  Right.
Us:  And each person is spending $50 per month, and you and many others are each making $42 from that sale, right?
Al:  Right.
Us:  So how many people can get paid $42 from a $50 sale?
Al:  What do you mean?
Us:  $42 is 84% commissions.  You can’t even pay two people 84%, let alone a bunch of people in a binary, right?
Al:  Well, it doesn’t work quite like that.
Us:  So how does it work?
Al:  We have really useful information for health and finances …

It’s sad how Al trusted the information he got from the company.  It’s even sadder that when faced with the facts, Al could not allow them in.

My question today is…..What is “Business Coaching For Entrepreneurs?” Now Im sure all of you have seen something like this..yes? Perhaps you stuck your toe into the water to see what it was about….what did you find? Was there a business opportunity hidden in the midst of all the very important, knowledgeable, super stars you saw?

1. A referral program that will help you build your main business will hinder you in that process, you begin and soon you find yourself spending more time on a tool than building your house……

2. About the internet, its a great thing but it does not mean success to you. Give this some thought, how did hundreds of people make millions of dollars BEFORE the internet? Before the fax machine? People had skills and companies weren’t greedy and filled with egoistical people.

3. You NEED to know the facts of your business, how you and your team get paid, if you can lose your check after years of hard work and who is looking after you and your success? Company P&P’s are filled with “gotchas” and unless you know what to look for you will never see it. Below are some examples…..

While Bongo Juice attempts to enforce the Agreement uniformly, failure to enforce any provision of this Agreement does not waive Bongo Juice’s right to enforce any provisions with that same distributor or any other distributor.

Bongo Juice reserves the right to reject any distributor application and agreement.

Here’s making more money from you personally!!!!

In order to remain an active distributor and to familiarize new distributors with Bongo Juice’s products, services, sales techniques, sales aids, and other important matters such as periodic announcements. Bongo Juice requires that Distributors pay for a Distributor Business System (“DBS”). The DBS is an online tool that includes a Personalized Replicated Website and Back Office System as well as an online Training Program with essential Sales and Marketing tools to help Distributors build their Bongo Juice business. The DBS purchase price is included in the cost of each distributor marketing package purchased and then $9.95 per month thereafter. It is a requirement of being a distributor.

Distributors must monitor the Distributors in their downline organizations to ensure that downlines do not make improper product or business claims, or engage in any illegal or inappropriate conduct.

Regardless of their level of achievement, Distributors have an ongoing obligation to continue to personally promote sales through the generation of new Customers and through servicing their existing Customers.
This one kills the build it once and retire and get your check!!!!

YOU ARE NOW  A POLICEMAN!!!!!!
Distributors observing a Policy violation by another Distributor should submit a written report of the violation directly to the attention of the BONGO JUICE Compliance Department. Details of the incidents such as dates, number of occurrences, persons involved, and any supporting documentation should be included in the report.

DOES YOUR J.O.B. CHARGE YOU TO RECEIVE YOUR PAYCHECK????
A $2.00 processing fee will be deducted from each commission payment issued to a Distributor.

WHO IS PROTECTING YOU???
A Distributor’s violation of the Agreement, these Policies and Procedures, or violation of any common law duty, including but not limited to any applicable duty of loyalty, any illegal, fraudulent, deceptive or unethical business conduct, or any act or omission by a Distributor that, in the sole discretion of the Company may damage its reputation or goodwill, may result, at BONGO JUICE’S‘s discretion, in one or more of the following measures being imposed on the Distributor:
1.Issuance of a written warning or admonition;
2.Requiring the Distributor to take immediate corrective measures;
3.Imposition of a fine, which may be withheld from bonus and commission checks;
4.Loss of rights to one or more bonus and commission checks;

BONGO JUICE may withhold from a Distributor all or part of the Distributor’s bonuses and commissions during the period that BONGO JUICE is investigating any conduct pertaining to the Agreement. If a Distributor’s business is canceled for disciplinary reasons, the Distributor will not be entitled to recover any commissions withheld during the investigation period;
Suspension of the individual’s Distributor Agreement for one or more pay periods;
Involuntary termination of the offender’s Distributor Agreement;
Any other measure expressly allowed within any provision of the Agreement or which BONGO JUICE deems practicable to implement and appropriate to equitably resolve injuries caused partially or exclusively by the Distributor’s policy violation or contractual breach;
In situations deemed appropriate by BONGO JUICE the Company may institute legal proceedings for monetary and/or equitable relief.

Tell your prospect that he must “qualify” to join your program.

You could say this:

“Mr. Prospect. I don’t want you to join my business if it’s not for you. So, before you make a decision, do this. Come to next week’s    opportunity meeting and bring two guests. After the meeting, see how your guests react. See how you feel about our business. And then, make a decision.”

Here is what happens.

1.Your prospect feels relaxed. He doesn’t have to make a decision right away.

2.Your prospect will find it easy to bring two guests. There is no pressure on the guests. They are just coming to look.

3.Your prospect doesn’t feel that he is trying to make money off his guests. He doesn’t pressure them or himself during the invitation.

4.Now you have three prospects at the opportunity meeting instead of one prospect.

5.If your opportunity meeting is good, your prospect is off to a great start. He’ll have two potential distributors ready to go – and more importantly, your prospect knows that he can invite guests and build a
business. He just did it!

Every week some local restaurant is trying to entice business people to eat lunch at its establishment by offering a drawing for a ‘free lunch.’  These business people dutifully place their business cards in the
fishbowl hoping for a free meal.

After the big prize drawing, this fish bowl is unceremoniously dumped in the trashcan so that next weeks drawing can continue.

Want prospects with real business experience? No problem.

Find several restaurants in your area catering to the business lunch crowd and start using the ‘fish bowl’ strategy.

Each restaurant will attract business people from its local area so you won’t get lots of ‘overlap’ by going to multiple restaurants.

Ask the manager, ‘What do you do with those cards after the drawing?’

You’ll hear, ‘I just throw them in the trash.’

You say, ‘Let me take them off your hands!’

Prepare to leave with numerous cards in your hands, pockets, brief case, etc.

What’s on a business card? Name, company, business address, and daytime phone number. Sometimes even a home phone number. And usually there’s at least some hint of their occupation.

What is your goal in MLM? I’m sure money is near the top of the list. I also know for most of us its also to help others. Now I’m not sure about you but when I die I dont want written on my tombstone, “Here lies Randy Fried, he paid off his mortgage and all his credit card bills”…LOL

I will be remembered as a person that cared for others and helped them become all that they can be! So how will you help them? Do you have a business that gives them all the “how to” training?

Lets go back to the original “why”. MONEY. I will assume you want to go to the bank and say to the teller deposit this please, and when she says t0 you, “checking or savings” you most probably want to say….”Either one it makes no difference I get them every week!”.

Now in order for you to do that you will need to have a business that you actually get paid fairly for all your hard work! You will also need to have your team in to be able to make money because we all know “no pay no stay” and that is the reason why our failure rate is so high in MLM and also the reason people change companies every 3 months.

So how do you find the company that will pay you well? Chances are likely you will follow someone you “know, trust and like”. Are these good reasons? YES these are good reasons the real problem is most people just follow people without setting a criteria for choosing a business.

So lets talk about criteria, should it be……

1. A millionaire as the top distributor? While it’s great that people are making money in most programs there are a few at the top that are very successful and the rest are starving. I refer you to a previous post to see what is really going on in comp plans. How much money are you really making.

“500k people are ONE ONE HUNDREDTH OF ONE PERCENT, THE 200K people are ONLY FOUR ONE HUNDREDTH OF ONE PERCENT”

2. Perhaps its a great product!! No one has a product like yours!!! It cures everything, saves you money on your long distance and your fuel bill!!! Well I’ll tell you we ALL have great products!!! Anyone can give great testimonials! I can, lost 20 lbs in a month and kept it off, lowered my blood pressure from 180/130 to 125/75 etc etc. We all have great products!!!

Are these great reasons? Well maybe but if your looking to make money these 2 reasons will not be the end all for your goal. You NEED  to understand how much your getting paid, not front end not pool bonuses not any one time bonus, you are seeking RESIDUAL, how much does your company for the average use of its products, most MLM pay between 3-8 percent, that’s like working for much less the minimum wage…..

If you have trouble understanding how and how much you get paid I can help you understand, without a pitch into a deal, your all grown up now and you can make your own decisions, but make them based upon facts!!! The numbers are the numbers and you cant change them, but you can change your course to enable you to reach all of your goals!!

Many prospects are afraid to try a new product or investigate an opportunity. They kindly tell us, “No. I’m busy. I’m not interested.”

You can use a simple guilt approach to motivate the prospect to at least look at what you have to offer. Here is an example.

A company sold water filters. Their distributors were trained to simply loan the water filter to a prospect for one week. At the end of the week the distributor would pick up the water filter or take an order for a new water filter.

Only one problem. Prospects wouldn’t let the distributors leave off a trial water filter.

The company devised a simple guilt offer.

The distributor now said the following to the prospect:

“Just try this water filter for one week. This gives you a chance to win a free trip to Hawaii. Every week the company draws the name of a trial user and gives away a free Hawaii vacation. But not only does the trial user get a free vacation, but the distributor that loaned out the trial water filter wins one too!

“So why not try this filter for one week. Do it for me. I’d like a chance on winning that vacation and going with you to Hawaii.”

The prospect is motivated by the guilt of not letting the distributor have a chance at winning a free vacation.

Let’s say that my sponsor lives too far away. I can’t become successful because my sponsor doesn’t come to help me. How are we going to move my thinking from distributor thinking to leadership thinking?

Here’s a story you could tell me.

You: Tom, I know you think that you can’t become  successful because I live too far away. I can’t  help you do local meetings and I can’t come to
Houston to help you do two-on-one presentations.

However, let’s imagine that you’re taking a flight  home to Houston, Texas. There is another passenger  sitting next to you on the airplane. Your casual conversation goes like this:

Tom: Hey, what do you do for a living?

Passenger: I am the president of a local entrepreneurs’ club. We have 10,000 members and they’re all entrepreneurs. We meet in the evenings
because we all have regular jobs, but our club is looking for a part-time business to get into.

Tom: Oh really? What kind of business?

Passenger: Well, we don’t want to have stores because that would be boring. We’d be tied down to one location.

We’re outgoing people and we’re interested in sales and marketing. We enjoy meeting, networking, and working with other people. We don’t have a lot of money to invest – maybe only a couple thousand dollars each.

But we’re willing to work as hard as we can to build successful businesses.

But you know what? I haven’t been able to find any part-time business for our members yet. And if I don’t find something pretty soon, they’re going to throw me out of office. I’m pretty worried.

You: So what are you thinking, Tom? You’re thinking, ‘Oh, man, I’ve hit the mother lode! My business opportunity is going to be perfect for
them. She’s going to thank me.’ And then Tom, you ask:

Tom: Oh, by the way, where do you live?

Passenger: I live in Miami.

You: And now Tom, you’re going to throw up your hands in despair and say:

Tom: Oh no! That’s too bad. I could never sponsor you because I wouldn’t be local.

At that point, I change my thinking. I understand that if I keep believing that the sponsor must live locally, I’d pass by many great opportunities. In fact, if I keep that distributor thinking, that would mean that I could never sponsor someone more than ten miles away from my house!

After you tell me that story, will my thinking move from distributor thinking to leadership thinking? Maybe not all the way, but I’m getting closer, right?

Are You Working For Minimum Wage in Network Marketing?

Many Network Marketers are working working for minimum wage and do not realize it.

Check the number of hours that you are working and divide that into your bonus check amount to get your answer.

My dear friends Bob and Anna Bassett have again brought some interesting MLM facts to the table, enjoy!!!

Lou Abbott (MLM – The Whole Truth) speaks out about binary compensation plans:

“Binary compensation plans have a huge unsolvable problem that makes them inherently unfair and bad for the industry.”

According to Lou, the pros of the binary are:

1. You only have to build one leg.

2. You get spillover.

3. You get paid to infinite depth on one leg and perhaps some from the other leg.

4. You can have multiple business centers.

5. Matching bonuses are a smart improvement, solving the big problem of finding your strong builder in your power leg, not your pay leg.

6. You can join a power leg where someone builds your strong leg and you only have to build your pay leg.  [Ed: Some consider this a pro, but Abbott and Olson call it a major con.]

The cons are:

1. You must balance your legs.

2. You get paid commissions like 10% on weaker leg.  [Ed: This makes your commissions actually 5%!]

3. Spillover creates entitlement and a welfare mentality leading to zero business.

4. Binary Creep:  Early binaries paid out too much to top leaders and then eventually too much to the field, making the company unviable.  This was solved by caps on earnings.

5. Power legs lead to binary games.  Leaders will demand to be placed in a power leg where one leg is built for them.  They will work only if the upline builds the leg for them, leading to more entitlement and more welfare mentality.

6. Binary compensation plans are inherently unfair.

Jeff Olson (The Slight Edge) has had huge success and experience in the network marketing industry.  Jeff makes things obvious when he explains …

“Binaries are wrong.  Experienced leaders who understand the industry will demand to be inserted into a power leg so they only have to develop their pay leg.  They prey upon people who know nothing and put them into their pay leg.  Those people now have to build two legs while the leader only has to build one.  The inexperienced people have to do twice as much as the experienced leader because “they just didn’t know.”

That’s not fair.  It’s the big secret of binaries. 

People eventually realize what has happened to them when they can’t get powerful networkers to join them in a pay leg.  Once they understand they have been tricked, they will leave and go to another company where they can demand to be put in a power leg.  In that company, they will put people into their pay leg and repeat the unfair cycle. 

There’s no stability in a revolving door.”
